Introduction:
Why is this storage system really necessary? Just ask anyone working in a microscopy or histology laboratory environment and they will tell you about the over-flowing Petri dishes, plastic boxes, and other containers that are used to store and archive blocks (e.g. faced off pieces) from important samples and which might still have to be examined further. The BEEM® Blocklock™ Specimen Block Storage System was designed by the BEEM people to solve this very problem so that large numbers of blocks could be stored in an orderly way, on a normal book shelf in standard three-ring binders.

Storage Panel in Loose Leaf Binder
The "system" consists of two components:

The individual Blocklock holders are shipped in a plastic storage box but can be easily removed. The back of each Blocklock holder contains a release paper and pressure sensitive adhesive backing. In the plastic box in which they are shipped, the release paper is intact so that the block holder can be easily removed. But for storage in the mounting panel, the release paper is removed, exposing the adhesive, and once it is pressed down onto the panel, it will adhere indefinitely.

BEEM® Blocklock™ Storage Panels

The mounting panels are fabricated from molded plastic and with optically clear covers, two of which will fit into a standard 3-ring notebook binder (supplied by the customer). A larger (e.g. 1.5") note book loose-leaf binder will hold three panels.

BEEM® Blocklock™ Holders

Four different holders are available and they can be used either with or without the pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) applied to the back. They employ a unique design invented by the people at BEEM that permits the individual plastic "blocks" to literally "snap" into the various cavities, holding them firmly in place, and preventing them from contacting other blocks and causing damage to the faced-off-surface. Holders are available for Size #00 blocks (from Size #00 capsules), Size #3 blocks (from Size #3 capsules), and for 20 flat blocks. Plastic boxes have clear tops with black bottoms.
